Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dry ingredients:
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
3/4 cups packed brown sugar
3/4 cups granulated sugar
Wet ingredients:
3/4 cups (1 1/2 sticks) butter
3/4 teaspoons vanilla
1 egg
Optional:
1/2 cup nuts (suggested pecans or walnuts) or
1/4 teaspoons almond extract
Let batter sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Bake for 9-11 minutes at 375F. Let cool one minute in pan before transferring to a cooling rack for an additional 5 min.
*Mason jar option: Layer all dry ingredients in 1 quart (1liter) mason jar. When ready to bake, mix wet ingredients in a large bowl. Add contents of mason jar. Stir well. Let batter sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Bake for 10 minutes at 375F.
Tip - use a cookie scoop (3T size) for this bake time. If you use smaller (1T) size cut baking time by 3 minutes. Whenever possible, have two baking sheets. Place cookie dough on cold sheet to prevent spreading of cookies.
